Part of The Great Orchestra Series: Karina Canellakis leads the Cleveland Orchestra in a program featuring works by Chopin and Rachmaninoff, two figures who are strongly associated with the piano, as both composers and performers. Each also drew on his native country’s rich folk music heritage, and these works are filled with lively dance steps and rich, nostalgic melodies.

For the second year, violin and viola faculty member Yvonne Lam assembles a stellar cast of MSU artists and guests to perform works by composers of Asian descent in celebration of the Lunar New Year. Midwest Clinic: Capitol Quartet Recital
Capitol Quartet will be a featured performing ensemble at the 76th Midwest Clinic, held December 19-22, 2022, at McCormick Place in Chicago. CQ will be performing on Tuesday, December 20, at 12:15pm in W-183.
The performance will include our own exciting and original arrangements of classical, jazz and folk compositions, standard saxophone quartet repertoire, and the premiere of Carter Pann’s Eight Saxophones, along with special guests, the h2 Quartet.
Allen High School Farewell Midwest Clinic Concert
Guest Saxophonist Joseph Lulloff once again joins the Allen High School Wind Ensemble under the director of Philip Obado for a final concert to perform movement 3 of Steven Bryant’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble in preparation for teh bands appearance Midwest Music Clinic in Chicago, IL the following week.

"Lift Every Voice" Celebrating Black Composers
A tribute to Black composers around the world and through the centuries. The program illustrates the wide range of contributions of Black composers from a classical violin and piano sonata, to saxophone and piano, ragtime, arias and spirituals, and of course, America’s music – Jazz. The story guide is Dr. Stephanie Anthony, director of the Office of College Access Initiatives at Michigan State University Outreach and Engagement.
